....They're story is a long one. Filled with early wedding jitters, sneaking out the house in Spanish Town to see each other under the mango trees then going their separate ways and 27 years later, having my sister & I. They call us a blessing. My daddy was a player....he has 8 other kids, my older brothers and sisters. My mom was just all too innocent until she almost eloped in Atlantic City to some investment banker. But, today they're as happy as their 'when I was growing up' years. And I realize that ALL my sister and mine friends have parents that are either divorced or separated. We're the fortunate ones...

I thank God, everyday, for what we are. A family. The McCalla's. The Martin's. & everyone in between. Always adapting. Always working hard. Always being and doing the best we can. Nothing more. Nothing less.

On a spring day last year, I fell in love and I'll never know just what it was, that made me feel so drawn to him, that set my pulse to race whenever I said his name. I lost my heart to his brown eyes and I'll never let him go again.

For how could I describe this love? Romantic love, all hearts and flowers, no way to count the days and hours spent in self indulgent wishes and thoughts of long awaited kisses. A sweet embrace, tender sigh and long look into his love filled eyes.

Or even yet a love that grows, one that cares and one to know. It sees beyond the outer skin, to the spirit and the soul within. Built on faith and empathy, respect and honesty, communication and trust; that I know was meant to be.

The love I want to share with him are all these things, a love that needs no rings. One that he never needs to doubt. One I cannot live without. To last until the day I loose him. A one to love always.

A moment of clarity...

It's crazy but I know of people that concern themselves with being too perfect and others that think they are too perfect. They worry about love and who doesn't love them. And short comings they fall to. About who someone else is fucking & sucking. Who looks good, with the amount of money they spend on clothing and shoes and what car they're pushing. Life is way too short to worry about every little insignificant detail of our lives and others of that matter. We are old enough to take responsibility for our actions and take care of ourselves. But when it comes to concerns of aspects for others than YOURSELF, it's NOT your job to care. Do you. That's what life is about. Or at least until you are comfortable enough with yourself "flaws and all" should you begin to care about the ones that care about you.
